    Clinical QEEG (Brain Mapping)

    Neurofeedback Costs

    Initial Consultation

The first step in determining the potential for using Neurofeedback training in your treatment is to schedule an initial consultation.  During this 50 minute session, it will be determined whether you are a viable candidate for Neurofeedback therapy, if you should consider treatments other than Neurofeedback, or whether a combination of treatments should be considered.  You will also have the opportunity to ask any additional questions you may have. The fee for the initial consultation is $200.

    Evaluation and Testing

If Neurofeedback is considered appropriate for you, the next step would be to schedule a brain map (QEEG). If you are on stimulants (such as Ritalin, Concerta, Dexedrine, or Adderal), testing can be done in the morning before the morning dose is taken.  The evaluation and testing takes one hour and the results will be shared within 2 weeks. The details and fee for brain mapping are discussed above.

    Payment & Insurance

Brain Health accepts all major credit cards as forms of payment and will electronically be billed through the secure electronic management system.

    Insurance HSA or FSA?

The good news is that you may be able to pay for many mental health treatments and services (including some online therapy) with your flexible spending account (FSA) or your health savings account (HSA) funds.

To qualify, the IRS requires your therapy or counseling to be directly related to a diagnosed medical condition – rather than for the general improvement of mental health or stress. That means that, generally, talk therapy or behavioral counseling with a letter of medical necessity may be a qualified medical expense while something like marriage counseling or life coaching may not. Be sure to speak with your healthcare provider to learn exactly whether your expense is qualified.

If an expense is qualified, you can pay for your sessions with your HSA or FSA. Whether you pay directly with an HSA debit card or receive reimbursement from your account, your payments will come straight from your tax-free funds.

    Other Insurance Coverage?

Brain Health is an out-of-network provider so we do not accept other insurance outright. If you are unsure if you have out-of-network benefits, please call your insurance company and ask these questions to help determine your benefits:

    • Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
    • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?
    • Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?
    • Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?

Some clients are able to file and receive a reimbursement for individual therapy from anywhere between 50-80% of session cost. It’s worth asking the question as you seek the best therapist fit for you. Please consult with your insurance company to determine coverage options.

If you plan to file for out-of-network reimbursement, please make this clear when scheduling your appointment.

    Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Otherwise, you will be charged for the full rate of the session.
